Matthew C. Nisbet is Professor of Communication, Public Policy & Urban Affairs at Northeastern University, past Editor-in-Chief of the journal Environmental Communication and of the Oxford Encyclopedia of Climate Change Communication.

According to Stanford University, by career and most recent year, Nisbet ranks among the top 2% of communication researchers worldwide. By other rankings, he is among the most cited experts globally in environmental politics, science & technology policy, political communication, and science communication.

Nisbet holds an M.S./Ph.D. in Communication from Cornell University and a BA in Government from Dartmouth College. He lives with his wife and son north of Boston, MA, near where the Merrimack River meets the Gulf of Maine.
